Girls Need A Father

I use to think that male children of broken families really got screwed because usually the mother got custody of the kids and the boys missed out on having a male role model.

I was wrong.

I learned that girls need a male role model even more, because they need a male in their life that doesn't want something from them.  A male who is loving in a non-creepy way.  A way that shows them they are beautiful (and not just sexy or hot), and that they have value beyond what they can do, or how they look.  They need someone to show them what to expect from a man (warts and all), how to respect themselves and understand the difference in how men and women think and communicate differently.  Girls need a male with whom they can feel safe and protected and stable.
